About 1850 conferencing and number assist

1850 Nummerinformatie is the largest independent directory enquiries service in The Netherlands. Our service launched in March 2007, just days after the Ministry of Economic Affairs announced that the old 118 directory enquiries number would be discontinued.* Through an affiliated company, Voice Data Bridge, we had already been active in the directory enquiries business for over six years. During this period, Voice Data Bridge worked as a ‘wholesaler’ in the 118 branch on behalf of several well-known telecom and cable companies.

After waiting impatiently for five years for politicians in The Hague to liberalize the directory enquiries market, our company’s founders were finally able to realise their long-held dream of operating their own directory enquiries service number. We are immensely proud of the fact that 1850 Nummerinformatie has quickly grown to become the second-largest player in this branch, with a market share of approximately 35%.

1850 Nummerinformatie employs over 100 people, most of whom work in our two contact centres. Our company is headquartered in Hilversum.

* Prior to this date, consumers could not choose their own directory enquiries service. Dialing 118 put the consumer through to the service provided by their (mobile) telecom provider.
